About the Workshop:
The effects of climate change in the Nordic region are comparatively lesser-known. The region is often categorised under the “least vulnerable nations” in the world. However, its forthcoming is unavoidable. Some traces have already been seen with record-breaking events such as the landslide in the Gjerdrum area in Norway, the recent flooding event in the Swedish city of Gävle and intensifying heatwaves.
The impacts of climate change however are disproportionate at different levels within countries, communities and groups. Hence, giving rise to the global discussion of climate justice. Additionally, amidst the often mentioned ‘unpredictable’ nature of the climate that is amplified by human-induced changes, it is difficult to look for a silver lining.

This workshop attempts to explore the following questions:
What is climate change? What could it bring about in the Nordic countries?

What is climate justice? Why is it important for the Nordic countries?
What are the opportunities brought along by climate change? The role of permaculture and ecosystem restoration in climate change.
